DP820 3BSE013228R1 ABB Profibus DP slave communication interface module AC 800M System 800 A
Product Overview
ABB DP820 is a Profibus DP slave communication interface module specially designed for S800 I/O systems. Allow standard ABB S800 digital (DI/DO) and analog (AI/AO) I/O modules to be connected to third-party control systems (such as Siemens S7-300/400, Rockwell) via Profibus DP fieldbus Data interaction can be conducted with ControlLogix, Schneider Modicon, etc. or the upper computer.
Core features
Standard Profibus DP slave station function:
Compatible with Profibus DP-V0 protocol (supporting cyclic data exchange)
Baud rate: 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps (automatic or manual configuration)
Maximum input/output data: 244 bytes input + 244 bytes output (compliant with Profibus specification)
High-density I/O support
Up to 12 S800 I/O modules can be connected (width ≤ 540 mm)
Automatically identify the type of connected I/O modules and the number of channels
Support hybrid configuration (DI, DO, AI, AO combination)
Industrial-grade communication reliability
9-pin D-SUB interface (conforming to Profibus standard)
Built-in terminal resistance switch (can be enabled by software or hardware
Anti-interference design, suitable for strong electromagnetic environments
Technical parameters
Installation and Usage instructions
Hardware installation
Insert the DP820 into the far left of the S800 I/O electronic rack (the position of the communication module).
Install up to 12 S800 I/O modules (such as DI801, AO810, etc.) on its right side;
Connect to the master station using shielded twisted-pair Profibus cables (such as ABB PDS22);
According to the network topology, the terminal resistor is enabled at the end site (via the module dip switch).
Software configuration
Download the GSD file (ABB_0132.gsd) from the ABB official website;
Import GSD in the main site engineering software (such as TIA Portal, RSLogix, Unity Pro);
Add the DP820 slave station and allocate the station address (which must be consistent with the dial code);
Map the input/output bytes of the I/O module to the master station program variables;
Download the configuration and start communication.
Debugging and verification
A constantly lit RUN light and an off BF light indicate normal communication.
If BF flashes, check the baud rate, address, wiring or terminal resistance.
The real-time changes of I/O data can be monitored through the main station.
